Happy Halloween The Season for Tricks and Treats

Dear Margaret,

We’ve spent most of 2020 being “spooked” by COVID-19…and probably exhausted from being cautious and careful. Definitely treats have been scarce.

I suspect many will not celebrate Halloween with the tradition of Trick or Treaters at our door with imaginative and cute costumes this year.

Surprisingly, my grandkids and grandkids of my friends are spending lots of time working on their costumes which they hope to share whether at school, at home with the family, or virtually.

I would not have imagined that so many kids would be interested in getting dressed up, despite not being able to trick or treat.  For those of us in Miami, we will miss all the costumes at the offices, the normal big celebration in Key West, and people watching! Miami has always been a great place to sit at a sidewalk café and watch the revelers parade around with their outrageous costumes.

In the spirit of Halloween…..I want to share a treat with you…a video put together by Nationwide for the Raymond James “Preserving Your Health and Wealth” program.

The video has simple and easy tips to enhance your immune system and keep you strong.

Highlights of the video cover...

  • Managing your Stress
  • Sleep…the primary system responsible for restoration and recovery
  • Nourishing your way to a healthier immune system
  • Maintaining mental and physical wellness while working from Home

COVID-19 Personal Defense Plan

The “trick” is the video is an hour long, but please don’t be spooked. Your time will be worth the treat…maybe you can watch/listen while you work out!!

A few other treats I'd like to share…

  • A rare treat, the second full moon, or blue moon, will be visible to the entire world on Halloween, rather that just parts of it. The last Halloween full moon visible around the globe came in 1944, during World War II.
  • Our team has been healthy with no incidence of the virus.
  • I’m appreciative of all of you who have called or touched base to thank us for what we do and check on our well-being.

And for a Halloween brain teaser….

What do you get when you divide the circumference of your jack-o’-lantern by its diameter?

Happy Halloween!

Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion Award

Barron’s is a registered trademark of Dow Jones & Company, L.P. All rights reserved. "Barron's Hall of Fame" is an award honoring a group of advisors who exemplify long-term success and commitment to their clients. Each member of the Hall of Fame has appeared in 10 or more of Barron's annual Top 100 Advisor rankings, and their long-looking commitment to excellence is a hopeful example for the industry to follow. The Top 100 Advisor rankings are based on data provided by individual advisors and their firms and include qualitative and quantitative criteria. Data points that relate to quality of practice include professionals with a minimum of 7 years financial services experience, acceptable compliance records (no criminal U4 issues), client retention reports, charitable and philanthropic work, quality of practice, designations held, offering services beyond investments offered including estates and trusts, and more. Financial Advisors are quantitatively rated based on varying types of revenues produced and assets under management by the financial professional, with weightings associated for each. Investment performance is not an explicit component because not all advisors have audited results and because performance figures often are influenced more by clients’ risk tolerance than by an advisor’s investment picking abilities. The ranking may not be representative of any one client’s experience, is not an endorsement, and is not indicative of advisor’s future performance. Neither Raymond James nor any of its Financial Advisors pay a fee in exchange for this award/rating. Barron’s is not affiliated with Raymond James.

The Forbes ranking of Best-In-State Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative criteria, mostly gained through telephone and in-person due diligence interviews, and quantitative data. Those advisors that are considered have a minimum of seven years of experience, and the algorithm weights factors like revenue trends, assets under management, compliance records, industry experience and those that encompass best practices in their practices and approach to working with clients. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Out of approximately 32,000 nominations, more than 4,000 advisors received the award. This ranking is not indicative of advisor's future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients' experience. Neither Raymond James nor any of its Financial Advisors or RIA firms pay a fee in exchange for this award/rating. Raymond James is not affiliated with Forbes or Shook Research, LLC. The Forbes ranking of America’s Top 1,000 Women Wealth Advisors, developed by SHOOK Research, is based on an algorithm of qualitative and quantitative data, rating thousands of wealth advisors with a minimum of 7 years of experience and weighing factors like revenue trends, AUM, compliance records, industry experience and best practices learned through telephone and in-person interviews. Portfolio performance is not a criteria due to varying client objectives and lack of audited data. Research Summary (as of April 2019): 32,000 nominations were received based on thresholds (9,654 women) and 1,000 won. This ranking is not indicative of advisor’s future performance, is not an endorsement, and may not be representative of individual clients’ experience.
